Welcome to our family website.
General news
We still live in Plano, TX and are both officially retired. The lady Jim worked for at GoToLearn/GoTo3T passed away in June 2021. Jim is trying to find a buyer for the bilingual educational questions and tutorials but isn’t having much success. Jim is still actively supporting a couple of Knights of Columbus websites but that’s about it. Carol has backed away from all volunteer work. During the pandemic Jim was one of 6-8 cantors serving at mass every couple of weeks which continues. Choirs are somewhat sporadic and will be until the new church construction is completed in late 2023. Jim is still a member of the church Men’s Club and deals Blackjack at a couple of casinos each year. We continue to tackle projects around the house. Currently, we’re planning to paint the entire inside of the house, redo the baths including tile floors, and install wood-type flooring throughout the rest of the house.
Recent news
We try to visit with our sons and their families as much as possible. Our adult grandchildren by marriage have blessed us with five great-grandchildren. Our youngest granddaughter is a Senior in H.S. and our next youngest granddaughter is a Junior in college. It doesn’t seem possible but the time has flown by. Jim completed his term as Grand Knight of the Knights council and now has more time for projects.
We have made some progress with our project to brighten up the inside of the house. We moved into our house in November 1974 when it was brand new. At that time medium-to-dark stained plaque paneling in the den and that same stain on all wood cabinets throughout the house was common. Starting with
the kitchen/breakfast area, where we have 39 cabinets and 17 drawers, we are painting the inside and outside of all a white satin gloss. You can see the before and after of 6 cabinets above. Notice that inside the dark stained cabinets, the builder had painted the back wall a flat black. It’s amazing how well we can see things in the cabinets now that they are white. The kitchen is complete and we were working on the breakfast nook when Jim’s left shoulder decided to act up. We also updated the hardware from antique brass to brushed nickel. Several years ago we redid the ceiling lighting and installed dimmable CFL can lights (now LED). With the new paint we only have to turn the lights up about 3/4 of the way. Here’s a picture of the completed kitchen.
Jim still thinks about more ancestry research but it’s sort of reached a stalemate. This will change after the house refurbishing.
